There is a huge variety of BEST drugstore mascaras. Whether you’re searching for that perfect mascara that gives volume, length or that is clump free, there’s a mascara (or two) for you. And you don’t have to break the bank to find your best drugstore mascara. And even in your drugstore, there are a variety of price points for every mascara budget. Your local drugstore and Ulta are the best places to find these mascaras. Here are some of the top mascara’s I’ve discovered:
Colossal Volume Express Mascara by Maybelline
This best drugstore mascara is inexpensive and has a collagen formula with a fluffy brush for extreme lash volume. Its formula is “volume-pumping” and guaranteed to increase your eyelash volume by “9x” with no clumps whatsoever. It is also ophthalmologist tested which is awesome if you wear contact lenses and are afraid of getting mascara in your eyes. To apply this mascara, sweep the mascara on your eyelashes from root to tip and apply as many coats as you would like. One coat is amazing in itself but a night out might require a coat or two more. Remember not to let the mascara dry between coats. My favorite color this comes in is called ‘Glam Black.’
Lash Sensation Mascara by Maybelline
Since we have more than one layer of eyelashes this best drugstore mascara, called Lash Sensation, is designed to brush through all layers of your eyelashes. It gives you a sweeping and layered effect. Since the mascara catches all lashes from the result, it is a lush “fan” of eyelashes perfect for a day or night, depending on how many layers you apply.
The Lash Sensation Mascara brush is fanned and has “ten layers” to create this sweeping fan effect. It is also ophthalmologist tested and great for contact lens wearers. It also easily washes off. If you find that any lower end mascara is coming off your eyelashes because you have oilier skin around your eyes or are sweating, I have a solution. Apply a waterproof mascara over the top. I have provided you with some excellent waterproof mascara options later in this post.
To apply Lash Sensations ensure you use the “inner curve” of the brush to reach the roots of your lashes and apply the mascara from root to tip. Do not let the mascara dry between coats. My favorite color for this mascara is blackest-black.
Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara by L’Oreal Paris
This is one of my new favorite mascaras and one of the best drugstore mascaras that L’Oreal has come out with. You can buy it in two regular shades and a waterproof formula. What I love most about this best drugstore mascara is that I can buy it in blackest-black both as a waterproof mascara and a washable mascara. Lash Paradise mascara is intensely volumizing. It is also fantastic for lengthening them. It has a soft wavy bristle brush that can hold a great deal of the product at one time. This creates volume which is both dramatic and ‘voluptuous. The mascara also provides length that is out of this world.
If you have longer lashes, to begin with, this is probably not a good mascara to wear glasses with as it will keep hitting your lenses throughout the day. This mascara adds extra length. Moreover, when you coat your eyelashes with Lash Paradise, it comes out silky smooth and might need to be built up with a coat or two, depending on where you are wearing the mascara. I absolutely love this one, so I hope you do too.
Voluminous Butterfly Mascara by L’Oreal
This is another one of my favorite best drugstore mascaras. It comes in the color Black and can also be bought in a waterproof formula. Similar versions of this mascara can be purchased in multiple colors. So for instance, if you enjoy using one of the Maybelline mascara’s above, you could also apply this mascara or the waterproof version of the Lash Paradise mascara, over top to ensure that your mascara will not run.
What I love about this particular mascara is the rubber brush that can reach even the tiniest lashes in the corner or outside of your eyes. Butterfly Mascara also gives your eyelashes a winged out effect “stretching” and “extending” them. The brush has an “asymmetrical lash line shape” that works to provide extreme volume. “Unique Cocoon Fibres” in the mascara work to keep your lashes soft, silky, and “fluttery” like a Butterfly. It promises up to “6x” the volume, and I would have to agree it works well as a primarily, volumizing mascara.
The Super-Sizer Fibres Mascara by CoverGirl
Lash fibres are a huge beauty trend used instead of false lashes, and CoverGirl has an awesome best drugstore mascara at a great price. It can make your eyelashes look lush, full, and thick. Super-Sizer fibres can be used to pump up eyelashes with the Super-Sizer mascaras specialized formula that contains “built-in fibers.” If you are searching for a fabulous mascara that mimics false eyelashes, this mascara is for you.
The slender lash brush transforms`even the thinnest lashes for a look that is said to provide “400%`more volume” for you eyelashes plus extended length. Super-Sizer mascara darkens your eyelashes as well and is safe for your eyes. The length it creates is amazing considering the low price point of the mascara. It’s one to add to your makeup bag and is especially great for special events. It also comes in a waterproof formula.
Professional Remarkable Washable Waterproof Mascara by CoverGirl
CoverGirl’s Remarkable Washable Waterproof Mascara is one of the best drugstore mascaras and claims to leave no smudges or traces around your eyes. The shade Very Black, “darkens” and “defines” lashes and is a waterproof mascara that washes away with soap and water. No super harsh makeup remover is required. It’s great for contact lens wearers and is gentle on all eyes.
CoverGirl recommends using an eyelash curler first (but it’s up to you) to give your lashes some lift before applying the mascara in “even” and “slow” motions. Make sure you cover your eyelashes from their roots to tips. If you want greater eyelash thickness, you can hold the mascara wand at the base of your eyelashes and “wiggle it” up through your lashes. Then, let the mascara dry before repeating the same motion as many times as you need. I love this mascara for the price point and because it works similar to any other waterproof mascara, but comes off a lot easier.
ScandalEyes XX-Treme Mascara by Rimmel London
This is a wonderful best drugstore mascara for super volume as name of the product notes. It gives “high impact” and “dramatic length” with a unique brush to achieve this look. One side of the brush is arched, so you can load it with mascara and achieve a high volume look. The other side of the brush is flat to define lashes from root to tip. Rimmel promises the mascara will not clump.
I’ve found it to be a great everyday mascara (putting a waterproof one overtop) because the mascara formula goes on easily and gives me a volumized and lengthened appearance that’s easy to apply. It doesn’t end up all over your eye are, and it’s a great mascara to keep in your purse in case you need to do touch-ups later in the day or at night time. The price can also not be beaten, and I love the shade, Extreme Black.
The Skinny Mascara NYX Professional Makeup
The biggest reason I like this best drugstore mascara is that of the tiny brush created to reach every little lash you have. It is especially useful on your bottom lash line. The skinny brush allows mascara to go on your bottom lashes and not under your eye or around your eye area. This mascara will coat every eyelash you have.
To apply, gently drag the skinny brush from root to tip as many times as you need. What I enjoy about this mascara is that it provides you with a natural lash look. It gives just a little extra pop to your natural lashes without creating a large amount of volume, which sometimes women don’t want. The mascara formula is water resistant and provides defined long lashes. It takes special care of those tiny lashes that are often missed when we apply other mascaras. It comes in the color black and is a no-brainer to add to your mascara routine.
